Coronavirus: How IBM's Supercomputers are working to fight the pandemic?

How Computers could Help to find a Vaccine?

The world's fastest Supercomputer has identified a number of chemicals that could prevent #coronavirus from infecting body cells, a crucial step toward a vaccine. Summit, the world's most powerful undistributed computer system, was tasked with finding compounds that are likely to prevent the virus from spreading. According to a press release, researchers from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory of the US Department of Energy. The USA ran thousands of computer simulations to analyze what drug compounds could prevent the virus from infecting the host cells. During the analysis, the supercomputer evaluated whether different compounds would be effective in binding to "spikes" in a COVID-19 organism model, thereby preventing virus binding to host cells, resulting in 77 matches. The information will inform future studies and provide a framework for experiments to help find a vaccine.
